Orji, Chidi Paul, Ph.D.& Nwagbara, Rufus Godswill,

ABSTRACT

An area of contention in Marx's works is the idea of alienation. Based on the idea that workers' alienation from the products of their labour is the basis for alienation as a universal characteristic of capitalist societies, Karl Marx made this claim. These commodities in capitalism are known as capital, money, and commodities. According to Marx, communism must triumph over capitalism in order to end alienation. Examining and studying Marx's major works is important in light of the debates surrounding his concepts of alienation, as these provide a typical and more lucid image of his ideas. This research study aims to reexamine Marx's theories in order to gain a deeper understanding of them by examining the concept of alienation as it is expressed in Marxism. We shall achieve this by looking at the history and significance of Marx's concept of alienation. In light of this, we will explain how capitalism affects society's general well-being. For Marx, Alienation is a systemic outcome of capitalism. After a brief discussion of other viewpoints that influenced Karl Marx's theories, we will critically examine his concept of alienation.
