Dr. Ogochukwu Agatha Okpokwasili hails from Ukpo in Dunukofia LGA. She was born to late Mr and Mrs Peter Mbanefo from Umuoji in Idemili LGA of Anambra State. Ogochukwu is the last born in a family of six. She had her primary, secondary and university education in Anambra State, and is currently a lecturer at the Philosophy Department at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. She got her PhD in 2023 and her areas of interest are: Ethics, Migration and African Gender Studies. She is the Editor of Nnadiebube Journal of Gender Studies, and the Editor of ESTAGA: A Journal of Interdisciplinary Perspectives. Ogochukwu is also the Managing Editor/Secretary of Essence Journals. She is the Secretary, and Secretary of the BOT of the Alumni Association of the Department of Philosophy Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.
Okpokwasili has written several book chapters and articles and has presented her research at various conferences and seminars, both locally and internationally. In addition to her academic work, Okpokwasili is the founder and convener of Impacting Lives Through Sisterhood (ILTS), a non-profit organization that aims at empowering women and girls through education, skills training, and mentorship. She is also member of Association of Professional Philosophers of Nigeria and the Association for the Promotion of African Studies. She is currently the Public Relations Officer of the Association for the Promotion of African Studies (APAS). Ogochukwu is happily married and blessed with children.
